Work starts on the Whitchurch Railway Path

A project to improve the surface of Whitchurch Railway Path has started thanks to Cycling City funding.

The improvements will see the existing path being given a 'facelift' so it's suitable for all types of bikes, as well as pedestrians. The facility has had little or no investment since its inception 15 years ago. Cycling City funding allows Bristol City Council to provide a better route for leisure cyclists and commuters heading into Bristol from Bath and North East Somerset.

Other developments will include better access, new signing and facilities such as benches, picnic tables and tree planting to promote the future leisure use of the path.

The improvements are approximately 1.5 miles long, running between Manston Close to Craydon Grove, parallel to the busy Sturminster Road. A secondary scheme to improve links to the path is planned in future which will help increase commuter numbers even further.

A map showing the improvements can be downloaded below. For detail all all Cycling City construction see our work in progress pages.
