Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
If you've been keeping up to date with the latest Cycling City news you may remember a news item about Brook Bridge - a 44m long structure that forms part of a new path from Muller Road to Lockleaze.
This bridge will connect St Werburgh's path with a low-traffic route to Bonnington Walk, which joins up with another shared use pedestrian and cycle path to Bristol Parkway and the University of the West of England campus in South Gloucestershire.
On-the-ground preparation work for the bridge started in late October. At the same time, the steel girders for the bridge were being cut, shaped and welded together at a factory in Nottingham.
In the run up to Christmas, Bristol City Council project officer Francis Mann went to see how construction was progressing.
Below you'll find a few photos of this work in progress.
This picture shows the scale of the bridge. Forty-four metres can be hard for some to imagine!
The bridge is also over 3m wide.
The rest of the bridge will soon be the same colour as this green girder.
The bridge is due to be installed in two sections later this month and the bridge is expected to be open to foot and cycle traffic in February/March.
We'll let you know as soon as it's open through the news pages on this website.
