Runners up in Bristol's Biggest Bike Quiz

Last night was the inaugural night of Cycle Bristol CTC's 'Bristol's Biggest Bike Quiz'. The event was held on a barge opposite Welsh Back in Bristol and was expertly compered by Cycle Bristol CTC and Bristol Cycling Campaign member Richard Burton.

Well done to the Get Gorgeous team who walked away with the first place and a large gold-plated trophy. The Cycling City team picked up second place and a slightly smaller gold-plated trophy.

Download the questions and answers and the picture round if you fancy having a go yourself (push ctrl+F5 if you're having trouble downloading).

Favourite questions included:

  1. How many bike shops are there in Bristol?
  2. How many vehicles cross the centre of Bristol every day?
  3. How many bikes are there in the UK?
  4. How many calories does cycling burn in an hour?
  5. Which English composer has a cycle route named after him?
  6. Which were the only two muppets to ride bicycles?
  7. A cyclist can be prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit, true or false?
  8. Which is the odd one out: Puffin, pelican, toucan, zebra?

Many thanks for all the help everyone, especially Marilyn the Marker and Bob the Builder, and I'm so relieved it all went well on the night, even if some of the questions were a little on the fiendish side!

Congratulations to everyone who took part, you all seemed to have a good time, and I've started compiling questions for next year's.
