Potholes, maintenance and routes

Coming over Gaol Ferry Bridge the other day I came across one the highway maintenance crews fixing the series of potholes that had opened up right in the primary cycling position. These had been logged on CTC's Fill That Hole a few weeks previously. Sorted!

The importance of maintaining a good road surface is very important for a pleasant and safe riding experience, so this kind of work is an essential part of a cycling city. Having the crews however is only part of the work, there also need to be good and reliable ways to Report a Problem.

We're working on putting in place a network of Cycling City Rangers as an extension of the Sustrans Rangers who currently cover the National Cycle Network routes in the city. This could have many benefits beyond improved maintenance, but it's early days.
