Work in the community
One of Cycling City's aims is to get communities enthused about using their bikes more often.
We're working with many voluntary and community organisations to run courses, events, activities and promotions. Four specific projects were designed to tackle barriers and cater for certain groups.
Community fund
Through the Cycling City Community Fund, community organisations could apply for a grant of up to £10,000 to set up activities designed to encourage cycling. Seventeen projects have been set up with 14 different community groups.
Bike Workstations
To improve bike maintenance in communities, Cycling City's Bike Workstations helped set up 10 community-based workshops.
Grants for Events
Small grants of up to £250 were available to encourage cycling as part of local events.
Free bike lights
The Bright Sparks offer provided back-up lights to groups who wanted to encourage safe cycling.
