Hello!

The new year is upon us and here in the Better By Bike office we've resolved to ride more than we did last year - whether that was six miles or 6,000 miles. If you have too, why not write in and tell us about your adventures. We might even publish them and send you a reward!

We have an extra resolution too - to encourage our friends and family to get started. Some people just need a gentle nudge to saddle up. We'll be seeking them out and giving them the help and advice they need to get started. Let us know if your persuasive powers have converted someone into a bicycle rider in 2011!

Here's a news round up from December, plus a few things to look forward to over the next month.

New cycle route for Cribbs Causeway shoppers

South Gloucestershire's latest cycle route opened in December, providing Christmas shoppers with a safe 3-mile passage from Bradley Stoke leisure centre to Cribbs Causeway. Find out exactly where it goes by watching a movie of the route.

BMX pump tracks for Bristol?

Local people and interested groups are being consulted on plans to build two BMX pump tracks in Eastville Park and underneath the Brunel Way flyover. Let us know what you think about these proposals.

Dates set for Bristol's Biggest Bike Ride, Great Western Ride and Get Gorge-ous

BBBR takes place on 12th June, the Great Western Ride on 17th July and the Get Gorge-ous training programme starts in February. Get those dates in your diaries!

Get your cycle lessons before the offer ends

Cycling City's offer of discounted cycle skills training runs until the end of March. Book your place with Life Cycle today if you need a cycling confidence booster.

Help name a new cycle route

Give us your feedback on the suggested names for a route between Bristol Temple Meads and Warmley - or suggest your own! Current front runners include Warmley Way and Champion Way.

Latest movies on the site

WIth the weather being bad last month it looks like lots of you had time to upload your videos. Six more were added for you to watch from the comfort of your armchair:

That's the best of last month but keep an eye on the news pages in January for exciting details about Ashton Court and another new route in South Gloucestershire.

Until next month...

Good luck with those revolutions!
