Welcome to January's Better By Bike newsletter. We hope the weather hasn't put you off cycling - judging by entries to January's photo competition we know there's lots of hardy souls out there!

Here's the latest from Cycling City.

1) Infrastructure news

Bristol: This month has seen work start on six Cycling City projects, in addition to the ongoing work taking place at Hartcliffe Way and Clanage Road.

Work on all these projects is due to be complete by April - just in time for the good weather we're hoping for in the spring. You can find out about all the completed Cycling City projects by visiting this page.

South Gloucestershire: Meanwhile, in South Gloucestershire work is progressing on the three projects below, and construction due to start on three more in February - keep an eye on Better By Bike news for more information.

More information about planned and completed infrastructure projects can be found at Better By Bike.

2) Softer measures

Cycling City isn't all about new bike paths. The programme also features events, projects and incentives to get people cycling. During January you might have seen the following:

Press coverage: The Cycling City programme was featured in What's On, Folio, Suit Yourself magazines and the Evening Post newspaper in January.

Stickers: We've received several thousand Better By Bike stickers which you'll start to see on cycle parking stands across the city. If you'd like to pick up some of your own call into Brunel House or the council's new Tourist Information centre at the harbourside.

UWE banners: UWE are working with Cycling City to increase their on-site cycling facilities. Cycling City funded helped them to install a new roadside banner at the entrance way to UWE. The banner has been designed to highlight how quickly students can get between UWE and the centre of Bristol.

Keep your eyes peeled next month for our bike passport and our new artwork. More information about ongoing softer measures can be found on Better By Bike.
