Cycle training can be a help for both complete beginners and experienced riders looking to improve their skills, experience and confidence on the road.
Rose Ain, a spritely 59 year old from South Gloucestershire took a lesson in 2011 said:
"I had some cycle training from South Gloucestershire Council after the Roadshow [came to my place of work].
The training lady was brilliant! I now feel like I can cycle with confidence and even when cars cause me trouble I know what to do, and I know all the cycle routes now so I can just use them instead. I cycle everyday now!"
How it works
Qualified instructors can come to you at a time and place that suits you and provide personalised training.
In partnership with your instructor, a plan will be put together for each training session, with consideration to your abilities, aims and end goals.
Once basic skills are developed, on road training can take place.
All cyclists are eligible for up to three one-hour sessions and complete beginners (non riders) are eligible for up to five one-hour sessions.
