Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Meet at 10am and ride until midday on Tues, Wed and Thurs. Meet at the Ashton Court Manor House car park.
All are welcome so if you have any children, friends, pupils or contacts who you think would enjoy two hours of cycling please let them know. Please note that you do need to be able to ride a bike already, you don¹t have to be brilliant or super fit, but you do have to be able to ride please.
Ages from 10yrs upwards.
The set up, if you have never been before, is simple, we meet at 10am, we fix up our bikes and make sure that we are ready to get going. If people need to borrow bikes this is when we fit them up, get them a helmet and make sure they are happy with what we are doing. We set off at about 10.10 and hit the trails. Usually we set off in one big group of different abilities, but occasionally we will split into two groups before meeting up later.
We ride for a few minutes, then we stop and regroup, before setting off again.
The aim is for everyone to be able to complete the ride, we never leave anyone behind, and no-one is ever made to feel like they are holding us up or that they are too slow.
Designated young people act as mentors for new riders and will help encourage new members to make sure they are enjoying themselves. We ride for around an hour before stopping and practicing some key skills, either playing games or doing jumps etc. The aim is to have fun with friends, learn new skills and generally enjoy being out in the fresh air for a couple of hours.
We return to the car park for 12 midday where riders can get picked up, or often make their own way home.
These sessions will cost £5 per day, this includes bike and helmet hire if necessary, although we only have a limited amount of bikes so please call me if you would like to borrow one.
If you have any questions please get in touch, we would love to see you, your friends, children, colleagues, granny...anyone! Groups are welcome so if you have a school group, scouts, cadets etc please feel free to come along, just promise to join in with everyone.
P.s for those who are regular Sat morning riders, we will still be riding on Sat as normal 10am-midday
