Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Above & Beyond are raising urgently needed funds for a Bristol cancer hospital (the BHOC) and they need your help.
If you would like to make a difference to people living with cancer in Bristol and the south west and you have the stamina to complete 250 miles of road cycling from Bristol to Lands End (incorporating the 3 big moors, Bodmin, Dartmoor and Exmoor) they would love to hear from you.
The 3 Moors Tour Charity Cycle Challenge is an exclusive endurance event open to just 70 cyclists and will be supporting Above & Beyond’s CaRE Appeal (Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy Environment Appeal).
All money raised will go towards transforming patient, visitor and staff facilities at the BHOC. Above & Beyond has already committed £1.1 million towards the project and work began last autumn on the radiotherapy and outpatient departments. £500,000 is now needed to complete the work.
The charity hope that the people of Bristol and the south west can take up this challenge and help them raise the final amount by autumn 2010.
The 3 Moors Tour takes place between Friday 24th to Sunday 26th September 2010, starting at the Downs Café in Bristol at 7am. The end point is Lands End in Cornwall.
Riders are being asked to raise a minimum of £500 in aid of Above and Beyond’s CaRE Appeal. The registration fee is £100 which includes two nights accommodation, meals and refreshment stops included. Only 70 places are available on the ride.
