Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Fancy going on a nice day's ride and helping other cyclists?
Bristol City Council has devised a number of new circular day rides in the countryside around Bristol. The council need volunteers to check the routes to make sure that they are clear and easy to follow.
The routes are between 12 and 35 miles long, on quiet country roads and tracks and any experienced cyclist will be able to do them easily in a few hours. They start at places all around Bristol - north, east, south and west - so there will be plenty of starting points around the city.
To get started you'll need a draft copy of the map and a feedback form - then off you go!
The routes, planned by Cycle Bristol CTC, are designed to help people new to cycling get to know the countryside around Bristol. Stop off points on these maps include picnic sites, cafes and pubs.
The routes will be published later this year in a booklet of longer rides, complementing a book of shorter rides, called Cycling Bristol, published earlier this year.
If you're an experienced cyclist who enjoys country bike rides and can spare a couple of hours, you'd be doing a great service for other cyclists.
