Perhaps it's that rosy-cheeked exhilaration and being able to justify a cup of tea and a biscuit as soon as you get to your destination. "Pinch points" project gets under way

A series of minor improvements are set to make a big difference to how safe people feel when cycling around the city. New crossing points, cycle-only paths, cycle contraflows, and new signs are just some of the measures on which work has now started in seven locations across Bristol. 

Cycling Santa Chase

Coming up next week is the Cycling Santa Chase, an event designed to get families out on their bikes discovering one of the region's best known cycle paths.

Wheel on down, pick up all the clues and you might just bag yourselves some early Christmas pressies.

A recent study says ice is the biggest cause of biking accidents. You'll need the right equipment and some great bike handling skills to ride safely on frozen roads. Our top tips might just keep you out of A&E. 

Cycling short cut reopens

Construction of a housing development in Lockleaze was finished last month, allowing Wordsworth Road to reopen and once again providing cyclists with a convenient short cut.

Feeding into Wordsworth Road is Dovercourt Road, which is the site of a soon-to-be completed 44m cycle and pedestrian bridge.

Shared space map now online

Want to know which city centre pavements you can legitimately cycle on? Our new shared spaces map will help reduce confusion. The map shows all the traffic-free and shared space routes in a 2.5km view of the city centre.

Latest Better By Bike jersey winners

We've given away eight jersey so far and still have 12 more available. Andy Green, winner during October, uses his in the weekly Bike Polo matches in Bedminster.

This month we'll make an extra draw on Friday, 17 December so two lucky winners will bag themselves a jersey just in time for Christmas. Enter the competition here.
