Cycling City? Seeing is believing

I was down at the Create Centre today meeting up with their new Bicycle User Group. On the way back I had a look a the tarmac being laid on the cycling contraflow lane in Cumberland Basin. Had a cheery wave from the the crew asking what I thought of their work for cyclists (looks good to me).

This made me wonder about all the other work that's either going on or planned for this year. I'm sure one of the Bristol Cycling Campaign's Discover Bristol Rides will take us round later in the year, but we in the Cycling City team are planning this route to have a look for ourselves.

It's about 18 miles and won't follow this route exactly - as Google doesn't know about bike routes, unlike our route finder.

The things we're going to check out on the way include:

  • Connect 2 Festival Way
  • North Street and South 20mph Area
  • Hartcliffe Way
  • Hengrove developments
  • Whitchurch Railway path and Callington Road link
  • Bath Road A4 GBBN
  • Eastwood Farm and the All Ability centre
  • A420 parallel route and the legibility and signing routes
  • St George's Park - links to the Railway path
  • Eastville Park links and the Frome Greenway
  • Muller Road Crossing on the Northern Greenway route
  • Back down the Farm link
  • Montpelier, St Pauls and East 20mph Area
  • Centre including Baldwin Street and Park Street

Got any suggestions for other routes or changes.  What about a ride round the north?

Bristol's better by bike, go on,  motivate a mate.
