Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
The destination for this ride is Five Arches Greenway (Midsomer Norton). The ride will will depart at 10am from Queen Square, Bristol BS1 4TR. Meet by the King William Statue in the centre of the Square (or outside Graze Bar on the corner, if access to the Square is restricted for any reason).
The group will always stop to help with any mechanical failures during the ride but please try and remember to bring along spare inner tubes and a puncture repair kit.
The ride will incorporate a food stop for lunch but you should also carry some water and food to sustain you throughout the ride.
Midsomer Norton is a town near the Mendip Hills, south-east of Bristol. Sustrans opened a new, less hilly, cycle greenway (Five Arches Greenway) connecting Midsomer Norton with the town of Radstock in 2011 as part of its Connect2 projects. Our route, will take us on an 'undulating' route out of Bristol to Midsomer Norton, then along some of the new greenway before heading towards Bath and returning to Bristol (about 46 miles in total). Please note that there will be some steep ascents and descents on this ride and some short sections on potentially busy roads
The ride leader is Simon.
CycleOut Bristol is the local, cycling branch of the Gay Outdoor Club. All welcome on LGBT-friendly rides. For further information see http://goc.org.uk/groups/cycling/bristol
