Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Cycle Bristol to Bath Railway Path, Sunday 3rd October 2010 for Marie Curie Cancer Care
The Route: The Bristol and Bath Railway Path is a 14 mile off road between the cities of Bristol and Bath constructed on a former railway bed. It is a commuting route, an attractive leisure path and an important wildlife corridor. The traffic tree route loops from Bristol city centre to the edge of Bath and is home to fine artwork from local artists as well as stunning views of the Avon countryside, with plenty of posts along the way to guide you.
Whether you're cycling on your own or with family and friends - welcome to the Daffodil Team. As soon as you sign up to take on a challenge for us you'll get:
* Full support from your local fundraiser
* A welcome pack complete with useful information as well as a map of the route
* Hints and tips on hitting your fundraising target.
All participants will need to supply their own bicycles for the trip and cycle helmet. If you do not own a bike there are local hire shops available.
All participants must wear a cycle helmet.
How do I sign up?
The suggested sponsorship we ask you to raise £50 per individual or £75 per family. This is a guideline only and the event is not restricted to those who have not achieved this. The money you raise will help us to continue to provide high quality nursing care to terminally ill patients in their own homes.
The registration desk for Bristol will be located at the start of the cycle path (on the junction of St Philips Road/Trinity Street - BS2 0JZ by Kingsland Trading Estate).
The bike ride can also be started in Bath, registration for which is at the same time, ie, 9.30 - 10am and the registration desk will be located at the Bath end of the cycle path (in the car park belonging to a company called Wyko, Brassmill Lane Trading Estate, Bath, BA1 3JF).
