Census says: cycling nearly doubled since 2001

The Office of National Statistics has released the 'Travel to Work' census results. In Bristol at least, the number of people cycling to work has gone up from just over 8,000 to 16,000!

As a percentage split cycling has increased from 3.3% to 4.6% of journeys (the working population of Bristol increased by about nearly 30,000).

Its great news. More and more people in Bristol are discovering the convenience, low cost and health benefits of commuting by foot or bike!

We'll have Bath, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset's results soon.
