Your employer may need a 'business case' before it adopts a Travel Plan. To build a solid business case you can emphasise that travel plans:
- Help to overcome parking problems
- Contribute towards the health and wellbeing of employees, by encouraging walking and cycling, and reducing commuting stressand absenteeism
- Assist in recruitment and retention
- Improve accessibility to your workplace for potential and existing employees and make savings on recruitment expenses
- Help to achieve your own organisation's environmental or corporate social responsibility policies
- Enhance your organisation's environmental image, and helps an organisation work towards the ISO 14001 standard which aims to reduce employers' environmental footprints
- Contribute to planning permission applications, for which a Travel Plan is required
- Make your organisation eligible for the annual West of England travel plan awards
- Help take advantage of government tax incentives such as the 'Cycle to Work' salary sacrifice scheme
