Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
This September Bristol's first cycle festival hits the streets, promising an exciting fortnight of events for all types of bike enthusiasts.
The festival runs from Saturday 11th September until Sunday 26th September, exploring, celebrating and promoting cycling across Bristol.
The festival promises to be one of the biggest the city has seen – bringing bicycle-themed theatre, tours, talks, choirs, games, fashion, off-the-grid stages, bike rides and races, workshops, a carnival and more.
More than 30 groups are getting involved including cycling clubs, community and arts organisations, schools, companies and bike enthusiasts.
The festival has been organised by a coalition of Bristol groups including Shambala Festival, Team Rubber, Bristol City Council’s Neighbourhood Arts team, Sustrans, Spoke n’ Chain and Greater Bristol’s Cycling City team.

During June, July and August the festival was open to anyone that wanted to get involved and put on an event. Grants of up to £500 were available for individuals and community organisations putting on events.
Now that the event is but weeks away, all we ask is that you check out the festival blog and the event diary to find out about the 75 events taking place.
The festival runs between Satruday 11 September and Sunday 26 September. The carnival takes place on Sunday 19 September.
