Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Bike Back is Bristol's biggest bike recycling project, providing the city with affordable and reliable recycled bikes.
The project is being managed by Life Cycle UK.
With the help of prisoners at Bristol Prison (Horfield) your bike will be stripped down and refurbished so it’s good as new; shiny and clean, with worn parts replaced and maybe even a re-spray.
Then your bike will be sold at a low-cost to someone else. Simple!
Prisoners working on your donated bike will learn useful skills to help them on their release from prison, helping to reduce re-offending.
Abandoned and unloved bikes of all shapes and sizes are needed for Bike Back - spare bike parts will also come in handy.
Drop them off at:
PLEASE NOTE: Life Cycle UK is unable to collect bikes. All donations must be dropped off at the locations above.
Child bikes start from £30, adult bikes from £50. All bikes are fully checked by a qualified mechanic before being sold – safety is of utmost importance!
Bikes are being sold at monthly events in Bristol city centre (opposite the Hippodrome). Bikes will also be listed for sale at: www.lifecycleuk.org.uk/bike-recycling-at-bristol-prison
