Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
As a result of the success of the bicycle carnival section created for St.Pauls Carnival in 2009,
September 2010 will see Bristols first ever Costumed Cycling Carnival taking place in the City Centre.
We Spoke'n'Chain would like to share the techniques and skills that we learned over the last year, develop some new ones and create a handbook for free distribution to as wide a public as possible. Our aim is to spread the skills and the fun involved and to send out an open invitation for all to come and participate in this Carnival.
The workshops will include an element of “what if we tried this?”, and “ why not?”… the possibilities for invention and creativity are there for all of us. These Workshops are intended to be very inspiring.
Running concurrently alongside the workshops will be an Exhibition of costumed bicycles at the Create Centre. Some of the work produced in displayed in this rolling exhibition leading up to the carnival in September.
Spoke'n'Chain invites you to take part in My First Bicycle School of Arts
A course that will give participants a hands-on introduction to the art of decorating a bicycle for fun, for carnivals and parades or as a piece of art.
