Below you'll find a list of the adverts and other promotional tools we've been using to promote Cycling City since September 2009.

Get Cycling theme (February 2010) - range of six posters

  • Aim: raise awareness of cycling's increased popularity
  • Running in BRI hospital guide (until March 2012) - 50,000 copies produced
  • Running in Venue, Big Issue, Bristol Secretary, Folio, Whats On Bristol, Clear Channel bus stop sites.

Promoting cycle training (January 2010)

  • Aim: to encourage readers to consider cycle training
  • Ran in Folio magazine and What's On Bristol in January 2010
  • Image available to download.

 

Facebook advert

  • Running periodically to encourage Facebook users to visit the website
  • 70,000 "impressions" per day
  • Generating 15-20 website visits per day

 

Christmas advert (December 2009)

  • Ran in Venue, Folio magazine and the Big Issue during November and December
  • Encouraged visits to the website

Promoting good cycling behaviour (December 2009)

  • Running between December 2009 and February 2010
  • Four designs, two of each installed: Be aware and cycle with care; Light up and cycle safely; Drivers give cyclists space; and Thank you for cycling in Bristol.

Website banners (November 2009)

  • Non-permanent display at twelve locations around the city
  • To promote the Better By Bike website
  • Most recently installed at Hartcliffe Way, Newfoundland Way, the Downs and Bath Road

Better By Bike postcards and stickers (October 2009)

  • Printed in October 2009
  • Distributed at pubs, bars, cafes, offices, schools and colleges around the city
  • Used in schools for new year's cycling resolutions
  • Desktop backgrounds for computers available to download
  • Re-supplies available by contacting cycling.city@bristol.gov.uk
