Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
General information and ride start timesAll ride start times, maps and important information will be detailed in the Rider Information Booklet. The booklet and emergency contact information sticker can be obtained by registering for the event. All routes will be fully signed on the day of the event.
It is really important that you register to receive important information and in case of changes on the day. Please try to be on time for the start of your ride to avoid being caught up with riders attempting other routes.
The four routes are:
A popular family ride which is suitable for families with young children or people who want to enjoy the beautiful Avon Gorge. The ride goes out along the Portway and back to Harbourside.
Bristol City Council recommend children under 14 years are accompanied by an adult.
The Family Fiesta is suitable for people who find it difficult to ride a standard bike. Bristol City Council will be providing 10 adapted bicycles at the event, suitable for a range of abilities. Sessions must be booked in advance by calling 0117 9224123. Download the All Abilities Bikes poster to find out more.

Due to road works on Felton Lane and Barrow Road (near Barrow Gurney) the route shown may change slightly to avoid unnecessary delays. Should this be the case, diversion signs will be in place on the course.
Please note, there is no Failand Heights ride this year. The proposed route clashed with another event which is bringing heavy farm machinery to the Failand lanes, making the route unsafe for cyclists. (This cancelled route is contrary to details published by Primary Times magazine).
All rides finish at the Harbourside where you can join in the fun, collect your ride certificate, meet up with others and enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon. For those taking part in the Schools’ Competition or Business Challenge don’t forget to have your name recorded against your school or business.
